The SM2030 Project Year 4 Report is now available.
The SM2030 Project is a longitudinal study of early-career stage managers in the United States. This ten-year study follows the same group of Americans who entered the workforce in 2020 as they pursue their careers, both in and outside of stage management.
International Stage Manager Survey Reports
The biennial Stage Manager Survey is a volunteer study seeking a better understanding of stage managers, their production practices, working conditions, and education/training. The survey is open to anyone who has served as stage manager or assistant stage manager on at least 3 live stage productions.
Previous editions of the survey were limited to the United States, but the 2021 Survey was open to people working in stage management anywhere in the world. Stage managers from 26 countries, including the US, participated in the 2021 study. Responses to some questions are grouped by country, but if there are fewer than 20 responses from any specific country, those responses will be included in a multinational group to preserve the anonymity of individual participants.
All survey reports are available for free download under a Creative Commons license so that they may be shared freely for non-commercial use. Please send others to this website to download the file rather than share the file directly in order to better track the number of viewers.
